Faith, Food & Returning to the Basics
Over the years, many people have asked why we do what we do. This message shares our family’s journey and what the Lord has taught us about health, healing, and returning to the basics.
Years ago, our family began asking questions about our health. Through prayer, Scripture, and learning more about the food God created, the Lord began changing the way we looked at health and healing.
In this message, I share personal stories about:
- walking through health scares
- learning to pray differently over sickness and fear
- seeing God work through faith and healing
- raising our children with a more intentional approach to food and wellness
- returning to simple ingredients and whole foods
- learning to slow down and seek God’s direction in everyday life
One of the verses shared throughout this message is Ephesians 6:12:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.”
As believers, we believe it’s important to bring every area of our lives before the Lord — including our health, the foods we consume, and the choices we make for our families.
This message is not meant to replace medical advice or tell anyone what they should do. It’s simply part of our testimony and what God has personally taught our family through experience, prayer, and His Word.
Our prayer is that this encourages you to:
- seek wisdom
- ask questions
- spend time in Scripture
- and invite the Lord into every part of your journey
At Back to the Basics 101, our heart has always been about more than products. It’s about helping people slow down, reconnect with real food, build community, and return to the basics of intentional living rooted in faith and purpose.
This page shares part of that journey.
We’re not here to claim we have all the answers. We simply want to share what God has taught us through Scripture, prayer, real food, and personal experience. Our hope is that it encourages you to seek Him for yourself in every area of your life — including your health.
What Is Your Philosophy of Health?
One of the questions I often ask is, “What is your philosophy of health?” We all have one, whether we’ve thought about it or not. For us, God’s Word became the foundation for the decisions we make. One of the verses the Lord continually brought me back to was Ephesians 6:12:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood…”— Ephesians 6:12
As believers, we should bring everything before the Lord — including our health, our food, and the decisions we make for our families.
That doesn’t mean fear. It means seeking wisdom, praying first, and asking God for direction instead of automatically following what the world says.
Real Food Matters
God continued showing us the importance of returning to simple, whole foods the way He created them. We believe food should nourish the body, not simply fill it.
That’s what “Nutrition from the Source” means to us.
Not perfection.
Not complicated systems.
Not fear.
Just learning to appreciate real food, intentional living, and the goodness of God’s creation.
From fresh-milled baking mixes to elderberry syrup, seasonings, and classes — everything we do comes from that same heart.
Faith & Healing
Throughout our journey, we’ve seen God move in ways we can’t explain.
We’ve experienced times when God brought healing quickly and times when healing came little by little. Through it all, we’ve learned to trust Him and give Him the glory.
But through it all, we’ve learned this:
God deserves the glory.
We believe He still cares deeply about His people and that we should invite Him into every part of our lives.
Why We Share This
We aren’t here to tell anyone what they have to do. We’re simply sharing what God has taught our family and encouraging you to seek Him for yourself.
We simply want to encourage people to:
- Ask questions
- Seek wisdom
- Pray first
- Learn intentionally
and remember that God cares about every part of our lives.
If our story encourages even one family to slow down and seek the Lord more deeply, then sharing it is worth it.
We're Still Learning Too
This journey has stretched our faith in many ways, and we’re still learning every day.
Thank you for being here, supporting our family business, and allowing us to share part of our story with you.
We pray this encourages you to seek the Lord in your own walk, your own home, and your own health journey.
My prayer is that you’ll spend time in God’s Word, seek the Lord in your own health journey, and ask Him for wisdom. Whether you agree with every conclusion we’ve reached or not, I hope this encourages you to seek Him first.

As we get back to the basics, our philosophy of health has evolved into a theology of health-one that includes God. We truly believe the best way to stay healthy is to consume God-created foods. We are always looking for different ways to pass that on to you via products, convenience, classes, etc., so that you, too, can have an abundant life of health and wellness.
Our family headed back to the basics over 20 years ago when our children had health issues. God healed our children of asthma, and ADHD tendencies, by giving us wisdom to treat them nutritionally. That made us realize that when we get back to the basics of eating God’s “manna,” His Creation, we will experience health and healing.
